Who we are
Vann Studios Limited operates vannstudios.com from Christchurch, New Zealand. Our registered address is 1/6 Tweed Street, Richmond, Christchurch 8013. This policy explains what personal information we collect through this website, why we collect it, and what happens to it. It follows the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020.
What we collect
- What you send us. When you use our contact form we receive your name, email address and message. Nothing else is asked for, so please send only what you are comfortable for us to hold.
- Server logs. Our host records standard technical information for every visit, including your IP address, the pages requested, and your browser and device type. This keeps the site running and helps us spot abuse.
- Your theme choice. If you switch between light and dark mode, that preference is saved in your own browser. It stays on your device and we never see it.
What we do with it
We use your contact details to reply to you and to carry out any work that follows. We do not sell or rent your information, we do not add you to a mailing list, and we do not send marketing email.
Cookies and tracking
This website sets no cookies and runs no analytics, advertising or tracking scripts. There is no Google Analytics, no advertising pixel, and no session recording. The only thing stored in your browser is the theme preference described above.
Who else is involved
- Netlify hosts the website and receives contact form submissions, which we read there.
- Sanity stores the text and images that make up the site. It holds no visitor information.
- Google Fonts serves the typeface used here. Your browser requests the font files from Google, so Google receives your IP address as part of that request.
We may also disclose information where the law requires it, or where it is needed to protect our rights or someone's safety.
Where your information is stored
Netlify, Sanity and Google hold data on servers outside New Zealand, including in the United States. When you send us a message, your information is stored overseas and protected under the laws that apply there.
How long we keep it
We keep contact form submissions for as long as we need them to answer your enquiry and to keep a record of any work that follows, and no longer than 12 months after our last contact with you. You can ask us to delete your message sooner. Server logs are kept for a short period by our host.
Your rights
Under the Privacy Act 2020 you can ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, and ask us to correct anything that is wrong. Contact us through the contact page and we will respond within 20 working days. If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner at privacy.org.nz.
Security
We take reasonable steps to protect the information we hold from loss, misuse and unauthorised access, and the site is served over HTTPS. No transmission over the internet can be guaranteed completely secure, so please do not send sensitive information such as passwords or payment details through the contact form.

This site links to other websites, including our social accounts and the sites of clients we have worked with. We are not responsible for how those sites handle your information, so please read their own policies.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. Changes take effect when posted here, and the date at the top shows when it last changed.
